It's May and time to prepare for the Bounty Sale at Assumption Church in Geneva on Saturday, May 21, 9 - 4 and Sunday, May 22, 9 - 2. This is the Rummage Sale where all the proceeds go to the needy in El Salvador - and a truckload of donations that are left will go to the needy in Mexico.
There are 3 ways you can help, if you wish. 1) donate goods and suggest that other people donate, 2) help prepare for the sale or help during the sale and/or get others to do the same and 3) encourage people to shop and/or shop yourself. We need people donating gently used Bounty and people buying the Bounty in order to have the sale be a success.
Before we go into detail on the above 3 opportunities there are two other items to communicate. A - We are helping to start a clinic in Chalatenango and looking for equipment and medicines. If you have any contacts or are a "contact" or have some $ you would like to donate to this cause, please contact Linda Bennett nlbbennett53@onecom.com or 330-652-0405 And B - the annual El Salvador pot luck picnic gathering at Linehan's south of Geneva will be Friday, July 22 this year. Spread the word to anyone interested in El Salvador in any way - and let us know that you are coming. More info later.
THREE OPPORTUNITIES to help the Share the Bounty Sale
1 - DONATED GOODS (Bounty) can be delivered to Assumption Church after 8am and 10am Masses on May 8th and 15th. Also after Sat. 5:30 Mass on May 14th. Deliveries are in the Festival Grounds way in the back behind the parking lot. There will also be people working in Festival grounds on Mondays, May 2 and 9th from 3pm to 6pm and on Wednesdays May 4th and 11th from noon to 6pm.. If you need another time to deliver or need something picked up, call Linehans at 466-3207.
2 - HELP BEFORE OR AT THE SALE
So far we have scheduled "work sessions" on Mondays from 3 - 6 and Wednesdays from 12 to 6 during the next 3 weeks. We will have many more as the time comes closer, so please call if you can help at another time. 466-3207. We sort and price at the work sessions - you don't have to price unless you are comfortable doing it. We need LOTS of workers on Friday, May 20 to transfer ALL the donations (already sorted and priced) from the Festival Grounds to the Church Hall. Then on Saturday and Sunday we need help mornings and afternoons. Again call 466-3207 if you or someone you know can spare some time.
3 - SHOPPING
Please spread the word about coming to shop!! This is a BIG SALE - we aim at making $4,000 to send to the needy in San Fernando in El Salvador. The sale is Saturday, May 21 from 9 to 4 and Sunday, May 22 from 9 to 2.
